Cops call the holiday season "armed robbery season". Usually the suspects are after cash earned by other people. These idiot crackas wanted pills instead.
Brian Laing was snatched up for robbing a CVS on Maybank Highway. His distinctive tattoos were visible to the victims and the video. Laing isn't too bright, so why did he think he had nothing to worry about as a result of this brazen robbery? Let's check his record and see.
2010 Charges:
Armed Robbery - Pled down to Accessory After the Fact by the 9th Circuit Solicitor. Judge Stephanie McDonald sentenced him to five years, suspended in favor of three years of probation.
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor. It looks like it took the 9th Circuit Solicitor seven days to dismissed this violent felony, but we think that disposition date might be a typo. Note there is an indictment number. It normally takes longer than seven days to get a case before the grand jury.
Shoplifting - Property Crime Enhancement (Felony) - Pled guilty. Sentenced by Judge Thomas "Felon's Friend" Hughston to 67 days time served.
Laing probably figures he can get a reduction from the solicitor and plead guilty before Judge Thomas "Felon's Friend" Hughston and get sentenced to a few more years of probation. Not that there is any evidence probation has been an effective deterrent for Laing. He was charged with a probation violation in August. He didn't spend much time in jail, though. The charge is still pending, no bond information is available.
Laing was given a $75,000 bond by Judge Priscilla Baldwin on this latest robbery charge.
Here's a thought - why not charge him with unlawful possession of prescription drugs in addition to the robbery? Or is possession as a result of robbery the equivalent to having a prescription?
Two other mopes were arrested for robbing the Walgreens at Dorchester Road and Ashley Phosphate last Thursday. David Mount and Jonathan Andrew Carter were charged in the crime. Carter has no criminal history to speak of. Mount is a convicted sex offender who is NOT on the SLED registry. He pled guilty to Criminal Sexual Conduct with a Minor back in 2000. He was sentenced by Judge Luke Brown to two years in prison.
These two didn't plan properly. They committed their offense in Dorchester County. Judge Thomas "Felon's Friend" Hughston doesn't take too many guilty pleas from Dorchester County. Oops!
