Do you folks remember Kashif Quanta Washington? He made big news when he wrote a letter where he spelled out his desire to kill Assistance Solicitor Amy Harrell. A few days later he made huge news when he also wrote a letter in which he said he wanted to kill Judge R. Markley Dennis. He sent those letters in the beginning of August, 2012 and the reports of his crimes were trumpeted by all of the local "news" outlets. We just found he also called in a bomb threat somewhere in October of 2012, probably at the Al Cannon Detention Center.
Keep reading. You will find a lot of interesting little bits in this story.
You folks might be surprised at how quickly the 9th Circuit Solicitor Scarlett Wilson moved on these cases. Normally it takes her office a couple of years to put thugs in prison. It only took her seven months to convict the obviously unstable Washington. Interesting.
Now, if you are the curious type of citizen you might call Scarlett Wilson and ask her why this particular case was pushed through the system so quickly. But then again, you already know why. An assistant solicitor and a judge were the "victims" of Kashif Washington and those are folks who really matter.
Washington was quietly taken to court on 20 March, 2013. He went before Judge J.C. Nicholson, Jr. where he pled guilty to two charges of Threatening the Life of a Public Official and one count of making a bomb threat. The reader will take note that Scarlett Wilson studiously avoided letting Judge Thomas "Felon's Friend" Hughston take this particular guilty plea. Interesting.
Washington was sentenced to five years each on the two charges of threatening the life of a public official. Those were set to run concurrent. He was then sentenced to fifteen years on the bomb threat charge, set to run consecutive to the other two. Regular readers here will know how unusual it is for one of our judges to order sentences to run consecutively. Interesting.
Based on these sentences you see Wilson can indeed hammer out a plea agreement involving serious time in prison. Why did she choose to display that ability in this particular case and not in other more serious cases we have profiled? Interesting.

Of course, the data entry in these records is not complete as it doesn't specify concurrent/consecutive like it does in other records. We only find out about that when we view Washington's SCDC entry where we see the twenty year sentence. Interesting. This record also tells us he can be released in three years if he's a good boy.
Oh, good lord!!! Washington is at Lee Correctional. This apparently highly dangerous and frightening person was sent to a facility where inmates have easy access to all sorts of illicit and dangerous items like drugs, alcohol, cell phones, machetes, etc. We imagine he will be calling in bomb threats all over the state when he gets his cell phone issued to him. Washington will be unstoppable because SCDC Division Director Blake Taylor has already told us all of his incompetent and corrupt corrections officers will simply ignore Washington while he sits at the sharpening wheel with his machete, dropping ecstasy, smoking weed, sipping his prison made alcohol and making calls to schools and government offices to let them know he plans to blow them up and kill everyone for miles around.
The other interesting item in this sentencing entry is the credit given for time served. As we have seen in these pages thugs are routinely given credit for time served, even when that time in jail trying to make bond was for a completely different offense committed on a different date - sometimes months or years later. That did not happen with Washington's case. His time served for each offense was particularly spelled out in each sentencing entry. It seems Washington was singled out for special treatment all around.
Maybe we are completely off base when we point out the 9th Circuit Solicitor moves more quickly to protect their own than they do to protect the rest of us. Maybe. But even the appearance of such a conflict is a problem. Consider this - we searched the local "news" sites for stories about Washington being sentenced and found exactly zero mentions of it. Normally, the Solicitor would issue a press release after sending such a dastardly criminal to prison. She didn't even publicize the news of the conviction and sentencing of this highly dangerous man on her own website. Interesting.
What do you think, folks? Do we have reasons to be suspicious or has the 9th Circuit Solicitor suddenly become highly efficient?
