We spent a good portion of the holiday weekend preparing our post on the Criminal Protection Act and our CPA Follow-Up. Legislators submitting crap just to have their names on something is an issue we should all be concerned with. We thought this might be an issue for some of our local talk radio hosts to discuss. Maybe they could get Paul Thurmond on the phone or in the studio and ask him a few questions since he failed to respond to our invitation to discuss the issue. We even forwarded the link to our first story to two of the hosts.

Not a word. That is what we have heard from Thurmond and the two hosts we sent to the link to. For the past two days we audited the local radio shows to see if the issue would be brought up. Nope. There was quite a bit of ass-kissing of the Charleston County Republican Party, though. We really didn't expect much. Even with all of the evidence we present of systemic problems in the 9th Circuit Solicitor's Office none of the hosts bothered to put her on the hot seat when they had the chance. Instead, they let her blame the problems on police officers making bad cases and on shitty witnesses.

In an age where Democrats running for statewide office seem to ignore local talk radio, we suppose the hosts (or stations) have to cozy up to the other party to keep them calling and coming in. When the Republicans do decide to go on air to publicize their latest boondoggle no one bothers to ask them the hard questions.

Face it folks, your local "conservative" talk radio has become nothing more than a public relations arm of the local Republican Party. "So what?" you ask, "Aren't the Republicans better than the Democrats?" Just barely. It is hard to tell them apart anymore. Heck, we believe we even heard one of the candidates for chairman of the CC Republican Party begin to refer to folks who don't want amnesty for illegal aliens as "extremists" in response to a question from Rocky D on Monday. Smith quickly caught himself, though, and provided a more diplomatic answer which didn't really answer anything at all. No one called him on the slip-up.

In closing we will let the owners of those three networks know they might as well just put another craptacular national host in those slots. As for us, we won't bother to waste the effort or the electricity it takes to listen anymore.
