Aside from the fact we are extremely busy with other things, we delayed running a Dead Right There post regarding the shooting death of Solomon Ancrum, Jr., aka "Solo Ancrum". He appeared to have a job at the Residence Inn by Marriott and his Facebook page contained none of the usual thug/drug dealer stuff we are so accustomed to seeing.
At the time of his murder Ancrum, whose last known address was on Bailey Drive in North Charleston, was free on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond for a 2012 charge of PWID Marijuana. One could assume from that charge he was dealing drugs, but we gave him the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe he had just purchased his weekly personal stash when the police nabbed him. We decided to hold off on running a post about the incident until more details surfaced.
New details released by law enforcement tell us that wasn't necessarily the case. Apparently the two suspects, James Charles Seabrook III and James Deshae Coakley, implicated themselves in the murder and claimed they set up a drug deal with Ancrum so they could rob him.
Don't be surprised to see additional violence arising as a result of two Mt. Pleasant thugs murdering a thug from the Dorchester Waylyn/Dorchester Terrace of North Charleston.
Young folks should take note of this case. Whether you are a rookie drug dealer or a scarred veteran, you risk your life every time you make a deal.
Those two don't appear to be contrite or penitent in the least, do they? Neither of the two self-confessed murderers has a prior adult history in Charleston county, with the exception of pending shoplifting charge on Coakley from February of 2013. Both were charged with Armed Robbery, Murder, Unlawful Possession of a Pistol and Possession of a Firearm During a Violent Crime in this case.
We would not be surprised to see the 9th Circuit Solicitor plead the murder charge down to Manslaughter and dismiss the remaining charges, given the lack of adult criminal history and the fact that their parents turned them in. This seems to be a popular trend in these thug on thug murders, even when the killer has a more extensive record.
