Charleston Police Department is searching for David Leonard Capers of 1 E. Wantoot Boulevard in Charleston. It seems he is suspected of shooting into a Jeep with three occupants on Evergreen Street on 18 March. One of those occupants was a juvenile.
CPD might want to check the area of Bailey Street in North Charleston. That's where the U.S. Marshall's Task Force found him when they locked him up on the 2011 armed robbery charges.

Capers established his drug dealer credentials in September of 2005 when he was charged with Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Possession of Crack. We don't know the status of the first charge, but Capers entered a guilty plea on the crack charge on 29 November, 2006 before Judge Hughston. The judge sentenced Capers under the Youthful Offender Act to a term not to exceed one to three years.

While he was out on bond and awaiting trial for the above charges, Capers was arrested again in October of 2005 and charged with PWID Crack and PWID Crack Near a School. The 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed the charges in November of 2005 noting there was no indictment. While still out on bond Capers was arrested in February of 2006 and charged with 3rd Degree Burglary. He pled guilty to this charge on that same court date in November. Judge Hughston sentenced him to a term not to exceed one to five years and set it to run concurrent with the other sentence.

While out on bond on ALL of the above charges Capers was arrested again in March of 2006 and charged with Unlawful Carrying of a Pistol, Carrying a Concealed Weapon, Possession of a Pistol by a Person Under 21, Resisting Arrest and Receiving Stolen Goods.
These charges were also handled in November of 2006. Capers pled guilty to unlawful carrying of a pistol and possession of a pistol under 21. The other charges were dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Judge Hughston handed down terms of not to exceed one year and not to exceed one to six years respectively. He set these sentences to run concurrently with the others.

Capers' arrest in October of 2007 shows us he served less than year in prison for ALL of the above charges. On 30 October, 2007 he was charged with Failure to Stop for Blue Lights.. He pled guilty to the charge on 5 December, 2008 before Judge Roger Young. Capers was sentenced to ninety days.

He was allowed to plead guilty to the assault charge and the 9th Circuit Solicitor dismissed the robbery charge. Judge Hughston, who had already had sentenced Capers on other violent charges agreed to the plea deal and sentenced him to thirty days on the assault charge.
