Derrick McKinley is charged with Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime in the shooting death of Deshawn Zellars. We broke the news of Zellar achieving the penultimate thug desire of assuming Dead Right There status. Even better if the thug is a (c)rapper. But then again, aren't they all?
McKinley has an interesting history in Charleston county. He has had quite a few arrests for very serious offenses since 2007. All of those charges have been dismissed. Most of them were dismissed at the request of the victims. What does that tell you. Let us show you what we are talking about.
2007 Charges (All within two months times):
Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle - Dismissed at request of victim.
Grand Larceny - Dismissed at Request of victim.
Lynching 2nd Degree - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor - unable to contact victim.
Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor - unable to contact victim.
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor - unable to contact victim.
Failure to Stop for Blue Light - Dismissed at preliminary hearing, probably by Judge Gosnell. The notes say there was no probable cause. Either he stopped or he didn't. It doesn't get any simpler than that folks.
2008 Charges:
Failure to Stop for Blue Light - Dismissed at preliminary hearing, probably by Judge Gosnell, with the notation the deputy wasn't present.
Unlawful Carrying of a Firearm - Dismissed at preliminary hearing.
So where was the deputy? Was he on vacation? Was he in training? Was he tied up on another incident?
This another dirty little secret of the 9th Circuit we have been made aware of. Officers don't get a second chance to make their case, no matter the reason they can't attend a preliminary hearing. The thug who is charged ALWAYS gets the benefit of the doubt and the charges are immediately dismissed.
2009 Charges: You can read the story behind these charges HERE. McKinley was WCSC's most wanted for a time.
Strong Arm Robbery - Dismissed at preliminary hearing by request of the victim.
2010 Charges:
Armed Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Pointing a Firearm - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Strong Arm Robbery - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
Resisting Arrest - Dismissed by the 9th Circuit Solicitor.
This guy could probably teach classes in witness intimidation.
There you have it folks. Derrick allegedly says "that fuck nigga" tried to rob and shoot him so he got his gun and fired back. Tit for tat amongst the hoodrats.
